Catching Up! (Part 2) The Arrival

Even though Mark has hunted in the area of the new house many times in the past, it has been awhile. We decided to take I-5 south to the HWY 6 turn off. We made our way through a number of small towns heading toward Raymond. It was much further from the freeway than I thought it was! I was starting to get worried about how far away this place was. (no wonder I was having trouble finding utilities & services!)

After what seemed like hours of driving through woods & farmland we finally found the Mallis Landing Road. It is a small gravel road that looked more like a driveway than a road. It was a pretty steep grade with lots of twists & turns. Mark was getting very concerned about getting our truck & trailer up this road and I was thinking "I sure hope the road out of Raymond is in better shape than this one!"

Eventually the road did turn to pavement and as we came up to the very top of the hill, there it was!! Coming from this direction we saw the pasture & barn first. (at this point I think we both forgot about the crazy road that got us here!) The barn is not huge but it is a REAL barn, at least two stalls! And the pasture is plenty big enough for a couple horses! As we slowly drove closer the truck's headlights brought the house, garage & shop into view. It was a very dark night, (no moon) so we couldn't really see much but we could already tell the the photos we have didn't even start to convey what is here! We sat in the truck for a few minutes surveying everything we could see in the headlights and letting some of the built up stress wash away, we are FINALLY here!
